Exhaust header design is one of the most critical decisions in designing a high-performance exhaust system. But why is the 4-2-1 so special?
What 4-2-1 Means
The name describes the tube configuration:
4 primary tubes exit the cylinder head
They merge into 2 secondary tubes
Which converge into 1 final tube
The Physical Principle
Every time an exhaust valve opens, it generates a pressure wave. In 4-2-1 design, tube lengths are calculated to create a "scavenging" effect - the pressure wave from the previous cylinder helps extract gases from the next cylinder.
The Benefits
More power - up to +15 HP on some engines
More linear torque - power distributed across the entire rev range
Distinctive sound - the typical "raspy" note of Italian V8s
Our Philosophy
Every header we build is calculated specifically for that engine. There are no universal solutions.
